Wild Card winner 2016. The jury was composed of artists Philip Huyghe and Birde Vanheerswinghels Artist/curator Alberto García del Castillo and curator Alan Quireyns (AIR Antwerpen).
Stef Van Looveren’s practice translates itself into video installation, photo and collage. These installations are used, as an attempt to reflect and dismantel the performativity of human behaviour, primarily within the notion of gender. Playfully mimicking our social conducts along with visual culture, his work moves towards a surreal gesture.
Stef Van Looveren studied visual arts at Central Saint Martins, London and Sint Lucas, Antwerp.
Stef Van Looveren wins one year free workspace and presents during Antwerp Art weekend in 2017 a new video installation 'Irrepressible'.
