Sara Ayesa
Resident
Sara Ayesa (1997, Basque Country) is an artist who seeks to question what painting is for her. She explores ways of painting without anticipating meaning, and, from time to time, during this process and unintentionally, something unknown may appear that other paintings do not carry within them.
Sara’s research is based on these ideals where she tries to pay attention to certain accidents to be able to recognize them and to give them value, playing a game between clumsiness and skill. During her residency at MORPHO, she will continue exploring and deepening her own pictorial language, with the aim of strengthening the conversations between her paintings, understanding them in relation more than individually.
She holds a Master in Painting from the University of the Basque Country. In 2022 she was a resident artist at Tabakalera, Donostia-San Sebastián. Among the exhibitions in which her work has been presented stand out Boogity Shu, Juntas Generales de Bizkaia, Bilbao, in 2021, and Vestirme mal y desvestirme mucho, Centro Cultural Montehermoso, Vitoria-Gasteiz, in 2023.
