Federico Tosi
Resident
Federico Tosi (1988, Italy) is a visual artist who lives and works in Milan. His practice focuses mainly on sculpture and drawing, making extensive use of plastic materials, terracotta, resins up to digital processors and robotic components. In his works he intercepts the alarmed spirits of this times, speaking of a civilization that is constantly confronted with political and climatic crisis. His production describes and dissects scenarios where matter is melted with visions and projections of our society in a sometimes poetic, sometimes ruthless future.
During his residency at MORPHO, Federico will start his research into the transitional states of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep, generating visual mantras which help him fall asleep. Using artificial intelligence, Federico embodies these mental images as sketches and models for new sculptures made of resin and terracotta. On 25 October, a selection of these sculptures will be presented during his solo exhibition How to Fall Asleep on a Plane, in the framework of Borger Nocturnes.
Federico received his MFA in Sculpture from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. In 2023 he was a resident at Siargao island, Philippines. In 2024, he will participate in exhibitions at Galleria Monica De Cardenas, Milan and Collezione Maramotti, Reggio Emilia.
