Zoë Field
Resident
Zoë Field is an artist based in Berlin. Her practice examines human relationships to labour, identity construction and social belonging, while contemplating the place of the individual in a consumer landscape. Working with steel, ceramic, textiles, and photography, her sculptures refer to ‘architectural antagonists’ and specific typologies in fashion and costume. From these sources she develops character-like subjects which insinuate forms of social performance. Field’s recent works evoke the cartoon-body, the building-as-body, and the female consumer, undergoing the psychic and physical effects of hyper-activity.
Zoë Field (1990, New York, United States) received her B.F.A. Sculpture from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn (2012), and Meisterschülerin title from HfBK Städelschule, Frankfurt (2017). Select exhibitions include Sanatorium, Gärtnergasse, Vienna (2019), The Spinning Figure, PAGE (NYC), New York (2019), Home of the Brave, MMK, Frankfurt (2017), Fool of the Corn, Hotel-Art, New York, (2016).
