Refectory

The Antwerp Art Weekend takes place every year in May and brings many art lovers to the venue. At this exquisite moment, MORPHO presents the work of artists-in-residence, be it in a solo or duo exhibition, in the refectory of the former Dominican monastery.

Here is an overview of the programme so far (and links to the pages of these events on the right):

2024 • Marianne Vierø - Flesh, or the Colour of Any Other Object

Marianne Vierø (1979, Denmark) presents a solo exhibition consisting of three groups of works, each exploring sculpture in relation to temporality using wax, aluminium and photograms. Marianne is in residence at MORPHO in spring 2024. In collaboration with the Thinking Tools Research Group at KASK Antwerp.

2023 • Cleo Fariselli - Your Storm / Our Dew

Cleo Fariselli (1982, Italy) presents a surreal documentary-style film inspired by black light theatre and a 'state of emergency'. A series of creatures is accompanied by a mysterious voice-over commenting on this strange world. She was in residence at MORPHO in spring 2023. In collaboration with Almanac, Turin.

2022 • Aay Liparoto - Fictional Ceramics for Failed Relationships

Aay Liparoto (1987, US) presents an exhibition of new ceramics and works on paper that addresses the possibilities of love without violence, as well as the recognition of our own failings. They were in residence at MORPHO in autumn 2021-22.

2021 • Hatice Pinarbasi - Witch, Wish, wAllahi, Which? & Zinaïda Tchelidze - Ons dagelyksch brood

Hatice Pinarbasi (1993, France) and Zinaïda Tchelidze (1983, Georgia) present a duo exhibition of painting, installation and performance that evoke visions of freedom, transformation and rituals. They were in residence at MORPHO in winter 2020.
