Aay Liparoto – Fictional Ceramics for Failed Relationships
26.05.2022–29.05.2022
Exhibition
Aay Liparoto’s multidisciplinary performative work addresses intimacy, vulnerability and invisible social structures. During the Antwerp Art Weekend, Liparoto presents an exhibition of ceramics and watercolours in The Refectory, our project space in the dining hall of the former monastery that MORPHO turned into a lively studio building for some thirty artists. Liparoto's storytelling vessels contain potential for love without violence but also to acknowledge our own failings.
Aay Liparoto (1987, USA) is an artist based in Brussels. They completed an MFA at KASK in Ghent in 2015 and a residency at MORPHO in Fall/Winter 2021-22. Their cinematic virtual reality installation Small Acts of Violence, questioning the violent actions we take in the name of love, will premiere at Contour Biennale, Mechelen and ARGOS, Brussels in 2023.
On Sunday 29 May, 17:00-23:00, we celebrate the last day of the Antwerp Art Weekend with a drink in the monastery garden and DJ sets by Marouchka and Mandy Pixel, co-hosted with Kunsthal Extra City.
