1991, Lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium
Jane Coppin practice deals with sound, performance, and video. In her work, she puts emphasis on movement, as well in real time as abstract, through gestures like counting and repeating. Her works are minimal in form and tend to visualize emptiness. The recording plays an important role in her working process. The gestures she undertakes while thinking what to with the recorded material often becomes the work itself.
Jane Coppin graduated from the Eesti Kunstiakadeemia in Tallinn and the St Lucas School of Arts in Antwerp. Her work was shown in the following exhibitions: Outsides and the Other, Raja Gallery, Tallinn; Mar Sel, St Lucas Gallery, Brussels, 2013; Colabs#3, Hedah Contemporary Art Space, Maastricht, 2012; Eigengrau, Old Governors House, Antwerp, 2012; Kunstbende, De Singel, Antwerp, 2009.
Jane Coppin is selected to participate in the fifth edition of STRT Kit.
