Karolien Chromiak
Resident
1989, Lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium
The projects of Karolien Chromiak are mixed media installations, working with light-sensitive media, like photography and video. Through her actions, she unveils the borders of these media on where representation disappears and a more abstract aesthetics becomes visible, with a focus on materiality. Her works include various layers that, next to a metaphysical questioning of materiality, also deal with the environment where the work is shown.
Karolien Chromiak graduated at the St Lucas School of Art in 2012 and Cultural Management at the University of Antwerp, 2014. Karolien Chromiak was invited for the following exhibitions (a selection): Coming People, SMAK, Ghent, 2014; Tangled Hierarchy (with Dennis Ramaekers), Rundum Art Space, Tallinn, 2014; Youth, portraits of artists, between freedom and fight, Maison Particulière, Brussels, 2014.
Karolien Chromiak is selected to participate in the first edition of STRT Kit.
