For Borger’s autumn nocturne, artist-in-residence Sadrie Alves presents a one-evening performance on lullabies and orality.
What lies behind the dark layers of sweet-sounding lullabies? What sounds from our childhood are connected to memory and musical experience? In this performance, Sadrie draws mainly from an oral archive of bastard songs from the Brazilian soundscape. It is set against a backdrop of drawings of the beings and landscapes evoked in the lullabies.
Sadrie Alves is a Belgian-Brazilian artist living in the Flemish countryside. Her work is inspired by her love for storytelling in an embodied way, acknowledging the importance of sensual perception through drawing and performance.
That same evening on the monastery site, you can attend the grand opening of the group exhibition Carpetland at Kunsthal Extra City from 7pm. Entrance is free! Their programme is as follows:
