Priss Niinikoski

Resident

Priss Niinikoski (1997, Finland) is a Helsinki-based artist working with textiles beyond soft surfaces. Her practice weaves together sonic, digital, and textile materialities to explore how systems unravel and reconfigure under friction. She explores textiles as embodied knowledge, linked to the tissue and memory of the body. Her practice combines sound, handcraft, electronics, and code in interactive installations, drawing on feminist and new materialist theories.

At MORPHO, Priss will expand her research into spatial acts and acoustically performative spaces, threading them with the radicality of bodies, voice, and breath. She will prototype interfaces to explore how voices are shaped and take form. Working with wind and breath as conceptual forces, the sculpture-prototypes will interact with each other and respond to surrounding sounds, creating feedback-driven dialogues. Priss also plans to collaborate with local vocalists and language practitioners to shape a space where voice and breath can manifest and be heard, forming a living, acoustically responsive environment.

Priss holds an MFA in Sculpture from the University of the Arts Helsinki (FI), where her thesis Sonic mediations received the inaugural Johanna Ehrnrooth Prize (2024). In 2021, she earned an MA in Fashion from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (BE). Her MA collection received the MoMu Award and was selected as a finalist for the 37th International Hyères Festival (2022). Previously, she has been a resident artist at Villa Filanda Antonini (IT), Lottozero Textile Laboratories (IT), and NOoF LAB (NL). In 2026, she will begin a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie (NL).
