Julia E. Dyck

Resident

Julia E. Dyck (1989, Canada) is a Brussels based artist. Julia’s relational and speculative practice explores the possible connections between the body, (sub)consciousness & technology through performance, composition, installation and transmission. Trained as a hypnotherapist, Julia creates experiences of collective transformation and somnambulism with a focus on the sonic.

Julia’s current research is focused on rituals of public bathing, explored through collective sonic experiences. At MeetFactory, she will continue the production of her current work - Bath Opera, a participatory sound-theater performance inspired by rituals of public baths and collective practices of listening and singing.

Julia is a member of the healing music collective Audio Placebo Plaza (with Erin Gee and Vivian Li) and hosts t.r.a.n.c.e monthly community hypnosis sessions with Diana Duta in her Brussels studio. Her work has been presented internationally at the Karachi Biennale, Bétonsalon, Paris, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, Cafe OTO, London, Q-O2, Brussels, Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Musée d’art de Joliette, Canada, Musées d'art et d'histoire de Genève, Darling Fonderie, Montréal, among others.
