Eleanor Ivory Weber
Resident
Eleanor Ivory Weber is an Australian artist living in Brussels. She is interested in the tension between expectation and lack as conditions for radical movement. Eleanor works through the mediums of text, performance and more specifically anachronistic communication technologies. During her residency, she is researching shame in its psychoanalytic sense and working on a piece about family, which will be presented at the Brussels art space Alma Sarif in 2023.
Her performances and installations are shown at Kunstverein München (Munich), Kunsthal Gent, Vooruit (Ghent), Q-O2, Etablissement d’en face, Buenos Tiempos, Int. (Brussels), Firstdraft (Sydney), Dortmunder Kunstverein (Dortmund), Repetition/s Performance Philosophy (Ljubljana), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), M.I/mi1glissé (Berlin), and others. Her writing is published in Paradis (Marseille), Meanjin (Melbourne), How To Become (Paris), This Container (Brussels), Jacket2 (Philadelphia), Afterall, SALT., frieze (London), and others.
Eleanor studied art history and theory at the University of Sydney, political philosophy and theory at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and performance and scenography studies at a.pass, Brussels. Eleanor co-directs the publishing house Divided and teaches art theory and critical practice at École de recherche graphique, Brussels.
