Angyvir Padilla

Resident

Angyvir Padilla (1987, Venezuela) is a Brussels-based visual and performance artist. Her artistic practice includes sculpture, performance, photography, video and sound. Inspired by the experience of displacement, the notion of "home" recurs in her installations – a space both familiar and uncanny.

Angyvir will work on various material experiments and performative gestures that transform simple actions into powerful symbols, including the constructive and destructive processes of clay work, channeling personal memories and animistic reverence in domestic spaces and objects, and inducing trance-like experiences with sound and voices.

She studied Art in Public Space at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels, Sculpture at ENSAV La Cambre, and Fine Arts at LUCA School of Arts of Brussels. In 2024, Angyvir was selected for the MINO Female Artist Mentorship program with mentors Otobong Nkanga and Léonard Pongo and will be part of the M Leuven residency programme at Cas-co in Leuven.
