Exchange Residency EXTRA
The French Embassy in Belgium and MORPHO are delighted to inaugurate their collaboration in 2025 with an international residency exchange. The Embassy supports the participation of one artist from France going to Antwerp for a two-month residency, in the framework of ‘RÉSIDENCES EXTRA’, its support programme to promote contemporary French creation in Belgium.
Period
The residency in Antwerp, Belgium, lasts for 2 months, from August 1 until September 30, 2025.
For whom?
- This call is open to French artists and artists living in France.
- You are a visual artist, possibly with a transdisciplinary approach.
- You want to focus on artistic research and the development of your work in the company of peers.
- You are welcome regardless of age, ethnic-cultural background, gender diversity, neurodiversity, and more.
- We do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs, but the specific architecture of the building (stairs, no lift) means the residency is not suitable for all conditions.
- There is only room for 1 adult, possibly with a child. You are welcome to contact us in advance to discuss your personal situation.
MORPHO offers
- Artistic, productional and administrative guidance from the team.
- Room in our shared residency house (including kitchen, living room, library and shared bathroom).
- Individual workspace in the monastery (ranging between 20-30 m2).
- Use of our project space and monastery garden.
- Weekly programme of sessions (composed in response to the residents’ input and interests).
- Access to the production facilities of St Lucas School of Arts (dark room, ceramics, lasercutting or screenprinting…).
- Online presentation of your work (website and social media).
- Newly commissioned portrait by artist-photographer Aurélie Bayad.
- Free entrance to exhibitions and events at neighbouring Kunsthal Extra City.
Financial support
Up to 500 euros round trip travel costs are covered. The residency also provides a 1,500 euros monthly fee and up to 1,000 euros project/production budget.
