Artist Day #2

We would like to invite all artists to the second edition of the Artist Day on 3 October at wpZimmer!

During the Artist Day, Antwerp-based arts organisations share their programmes and ways in which they want to support artists. By organising an informal gathering, the Artist Day aims to promote connection and accessibility between organisations, artists and art workers based or connected to or the Antwerp art scene.

Whether you are a recent or upcoming graduate, new to Antwerp, have been active in the art sector for a while, ... the Artist Day aims to help those developing their work between organisations to:

• orient themselves in the working field
• build up an artistic base
• reconnect
• meet potential collaborators
• create new connections

This activity is part of Open Office. Participating organisations this time are Rataplan, Het Bos, DE SINGEL, AnAku, Fameus, Monty, Mestizo Arts Platform, Vincent Company, detheatremaker, MORPHO, ARTTELEX, Schouwburg Noord/Merksem Dok, wpZimmer & Arenberg.

On this occasion, we also invite you to Let It Z/Simmer, an artistic aftercare & rest session. In the wake of demanding deadlines, we want to create time and space to unwind. A moment to take care of each other and ourselves. And to mark a period of invisible work that many individual artists and art workers put into their practice.

Let It Z/Simmer is hosted and guided by Jija Sohn. In her work, Jija creates a space where participants can immerse themselves in a safe and alternative environment that encourages them to unlock their creative potential. She asks how we can create spaces that foster flourishing and fulfilment during behind-the-scenes activities such as building relationships, writing job applications and online meetings. Essentially, throughout an entire process leading to presentation. In Let It Z/Simmer, Jija will focus on continuous ‘giving and receiving’ through sensory exploration, starting with a simple warm-up and culminating in an embodied conversation with verbal and non-verbal interaction.
