MORPHO is looking for: residency & production assistant (60%)


Do you have excellent organisational and people skills, and are you good at keeping an overview? And do you feel at home in the world of contemporary art? Then we are looking for you! In this position, you will ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the residency and coordinate the artistic and supportive programmes of our residency and studio operations in close collaboration with artistic director Caroline Dumalin.


MORPHO supports artists in their artistic development, both locally and internationally. We give time and space to artists by setting up paid residency exchanges and renting out workspaces below market value. We advocate for the place of artists in the city at the level of studio policy and give visibility to their presence. Currently, we provide studios to more than 200 artists, designers and makers in 14 locations in Antwerp and offer residencies to some 20 artists from Belgium and abroad every year. In this way, we strive to foster a lively and solid ground for artistic work.

Job description

  • Following up on the open call residency application process
  • Liaising with incoming and outgoing resident artists on travel and visa requirements
  • Ensuring the smooth arrival and departure of residents, including organising bedrooms, welcome documents and tours of the house
  • Taking care of the residence and office, such as ordering supplies, monitoring cosy decor and general orderliness, scheduling special cleaning tasks
  • Maintaining good contact with residents on household matters and programme activities
  • Arranging logistical and hospitality needs for trips and studio visits, such as public transport and catering
  • Planning sessions with studio users and monitoring if they are tailored to their needs
  • Coordinating the production of occasional exhibitions and events, including renting technical equipment and booking freelancers and volunteers
  • Keeping track of expenses and payments related to the programme
  • Supporting the communication on social media, website and newsletter


  • You have relevant professional work experience and a demonstrable interest in contemporary art
  • You have good people skills, communicate effectively and with a creative spark
  • You have excellent organisational skills and the capacity to multi-task in a busy work environment
  • You are precise and assertive
  • You are a problem-solver with a hands-on attitude
  • You know your way around Office applications (e.g. Word and Excel) and possibly also Adobe inDesign
  • You speak and write English fluently and preferably also Dutch
  • You enjoy teamwork but can also work independently
  • You take initiative and are resourceful and flexible (occasional evening or weekend work)
  • You preferably live in Antwerp
  • Driving license B is a plus

What we offer

  • Open-ended 60% contract with remuneration in accordance with Joint Committee CLA 329.01 - B1c
  • Three fixed working days per week, with some flexibility and possibility of working from home
  • Start in August 2024 with possibility of training days in June
  • Location in Ploegstraat 27, 2018 Antwerp, close to Central Station
  • You will work for a core organisation in Antwerp, with strong local as well as international operations
  • You will work in a small and driven team of seven
  • You will be part of a growing network of artists, partners and fellow arts organisations
  • Together with the management, you will have the opportunity to map out a growth path with increasing responsibility
